Lincoln Conservation is a commercial body working within the research environment of a university. This gives us access to a range of specialist facilities and research expertise. We bring together colleagues within the School of History and Heritage with knowledge of the technical, scientific and cultural aspects of artefacts and historic interiors. Beyond the School, we draw upon technicians and experts from across the university.
The University of Lincoln supports a vibrant culture of inquiry, initiative and research capacity in professional practice and scholarship. We undertake in-depth studies which are hardly possible within the limits of strictly commercial work. This allows us to develop new approaches to conservation and historic interiors.
We are able to solve some of the complex technical problems of conservation and restoration through the application of novel techniques. Equally, we can set our findings into the broader understanding of historical development. Our range of skills are applied to both practical problems and the academic significance of our discoveries.
