Lead Paint Survey project on the Horizon

Lincoln Conservation will be starting a lead paint survey (Project Horizon) for Graham Construction at the end of March.

An examination of the painted windows and other surfaces in six buildings in central London.

Analysis will be conducted using simple staining tests to determine the presence of lead and further instant quantitative analysis on site using a calibrated portable XRF (X-Ray Fluorescence) analyser. Representative paint samples will be removed for analysis by ICP (Inductively Coupled Plasma) spectroscopy in our labs at the University of Lincoln.

A final report will be issued to Graham Construction clearly identifying the paints containing lead and an indication of the amount. This important information will ensure safe working practice during the refurbishment of the windows in these buildings.
